About The Artist
Marina Rafael was born in Cyprus where she lives with her family.  Painter, artist, art educator at Public schools and illustrator.  She began as a self taught painter, graduated from Aristotelion University, Greece as a primary teacher and completed her MA in Art and Craft in Education, London.  Her passion for art lead her to complete a Fine Art Degree at Central Saint Martins School of Arts, London.  She also attended glass blowing course at Sunderland University, Glass House as well as a course for Painting Cathedral Stained Glass at Roehampton, Surrey, UK.

Her artistic career as well as her restless artistic spirit includes nine solo exhibitions and participations in several group international exhibitions such as World Art Fair Dubai, 2018, Tatinis Art Fair, Singapore, 2018, Index Hotel Show, 2019-2020, Dubai, Luxebourg Art Prize, 2019, Art Connects Women, 2019-2023, Dubai.

She has been awarded for her art work and artistic merit as well.
  • 2018 she was selected among other international artists to exhibit her work at World Art Fair Dubai, receiving excellent comments for her paintings with publiations in UAE newspaper and Indian Art magazines.
  • 2019, 2020, 2021,2022 she was selected by an international committee to represent her country and awarded “Art Connects Women”, 100 women artist around the world.
  • 2020 she was awarded with the “Dali Moustache” international award, Spain for her painting “The lady with the blue scarf”.
  • 2021 she won the first prize for a public installation at Limassol, Mesa Geitonia entitled “Elephants of the Rainbow”.
  • 2022 awarded at an international exhibition in Dubai, “Small is beautiful” with her work titled "Silence”.
  • April 2023, awarded for her artistic merit the International Award “ Leonardo Da Vinci” at Milan-Italy.
  • May 2023, awarded as an international artist with the award “Pegasus”, Venice-Italy.
  • June 2023, awarded with the International Prize “Michelangelo-the genius of Italy”, for her artistic expression, Rome-Italy.
  • January 2024, distinction for her artistic value, “Protagonists of Art”, Washington-USA.
  • 2024 awarded with International Prize “Velazquez and Goya”, Barcelona-Spain.
  • May 2024 participated in World Art Fair in Dubai, reveiving many positive reviews and invitations to participate in Moscow, 2025 at the International Festival of Fine Arts-Tradition and Modernity.  As well at Carrousel de Louvre, Paris-France and Singapore Art Fair.
Her paintings are in private collections in Cyprus, Greece, London, Lebanon, Dubai, Austria, Germany, USA, South Africa, France and India.

Her three and half decade artistic career includes lovely collaborations and inreresting projects:
  • large scale wall murals at the pediatric floor at public Hospital, Paphos (donation)
  • large scale wall murals at the pediatric floor at public Hospital, Larnaca(donation)
  • large scale wall murals at the pediatric floor at Polyclinic Ygia, Limassol (donation)
  • wall murals and paintings to all the rooms of Ronald McDonald Charity House, Nicosia, (RMCH) which host families of children hospitalized (donation)
  • collaboration with international artist in Dubait with kids with special needs “Little Picasso”
  • large scale wall murals at Makarios Hospital, Pediatric Oncology Yarn, 350sq meters 10mtrs high, Nicosia
  • wall murals at the floor of the new Neurodevelopmental Difficulties Center, Makarios Hospital, Nicosia (donation)
  • large scale wall murals decorated the walls and ceiling of the new SKE, Community Volunteer Council, Ayios Athanasios, Limassol
  • restoration of an old church at Park Lane Hotel and Resort, Limassol
  • wall murals and paintings at St’ Raphael Hotel and Resort, Limassol
  • wall murals at ALMA foundation, for kids with special needs, Limassol (donation)
  • wall murals and paintings at “Theotokos” foundation for adults with special needs, Limassol (donation)

For the last ten years she has been illustrating children’s fairy tales and books and published her first fairy tale in collaboration with Akrotiri English Base “Riris the little Flamingo” a bilingual book.

In her future plans is to create  wonderful public areas with large wall murals and participate at International Art Fairs.  Looking forward for her new exhibition and illustrate more happy kids fairy tales.

Her artistic statement now is to inspire people who have health issues to move forward and never stop dreaming.  Every day is a different day, dream and travel with her paintings and creations.

In 22 July 2023 Marina Rafael was nominated for International Prize Michelangelo-the genius of Italy in Rome,Italy.

International Artistic Action Award, Leonardo Da Vinci. , Milan-Italy 2023
In April 2023, Milan-Italy Marina Rafael was awarded for its artistic action International Award Leonardo Da Vinci.

International Artistic Award, "Pegasus" , Venice-Italy 2023
In May 2023 Marina Rafael was nominated for the International award "Pegasus"-Venice-Italy as an international artist

Award from  Ypsona Women's Association(Υ.W.A), May 2023, Cyprus
The Ypsonas Women's Association (Υ.W.A), under the auspices of the Speaker of the Parliament Mrs. Annita Dimitriou, celebrated Mother's Day together with International Women's Day on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at the Ypsonas Municipal Theater and awarded Marina Raphael as female educator/artist.

2nd Prize, International art contest Dali΄s Mustache, Spain 2020
In 2020 Marina Rafael was awarded a second international award in Spain with the Dali Mustache International Award for her painting "The lady with the blue scarf".

1st Price Competition ,3D construction,   - August 2021

"ENRICHMENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS WITH WORKS OF ART FOR THE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN OF PANTHEA LIMASSOL",
Marina Rafael was awarded with the first prize with her artwork "The rainbow elephants".  Among many artists participants Rafael Marina was being selected as the winner of the competition "Enrichment of Public Buildings with installations".  Her artwork "The rainbow elephants" are installed and exposed at the Public Kindergarten of Mesa Geitonia, Limassol.
